There are many ways to get ready for this upcoming 2013 season. Many people participated in the summer soccer after last years fall season, that went well because a lot of the younger players got to play on the varsity level with good schools. We lost a lot of the games, but that didn’t matter, because we obviously improved throughout the summer season. We also had a Fall team that got together and played a Rec league at Abbott Sports Complex. That league was also difficult because we had our team in the All age group, so we played a lot of college guys, which didn’t turn out very good most of the time.
In the winter you can do a lot of things to get ready for soccer in the Spring. One way is the Indoor soccer that is put on by the school, and played inside the Abbott Sports Complex. My favorite of these is Indoor soccer because it’s exciting that you can play off the walls, because you can’t do that normally in soccer. It is also very aggressive, which in my opinion makes it really fun. These are a few ways to get experience and playing time before the actual season starts.
In the winter, for the players that aren’t partaking in basketball, there is conditioning after school most days. Conditioning is led by most of the senior boys, but Mr. Bassett gives them guidelines that he wants us to do. Conditioning for soccer has more agility work outs and speed work outs than other things. Conditioning goes from November to February, and right after conditioning, in February, Practice then starts. Many players are getting anxious for soccer season, and can’t wait to step up and be an asset to the team.
